N2 - This article presents the research results of the bibliographic review, done about the application of project management processes, in small and medium size enterprises worldwide, with the aim of knowing the current state of investigative productivity that is addressed in them and thus increasing knowledge management in the organization’s operations. In this sense, a qualitative research with descriptive scope was carried out. With the analysis of information from existent literature, four thematic units were constructed: administrative, operational, strategic and external, which by the authors judgment, explain the disclosure about investigations carried out in organizations of this nature. As a result, it was found that, despite the heterogeneity of research in this type of companies, in the field of knowledge management and project management it is limited, an aspect that is considered later in detail, given that it is a relevant factor. in the research that generates this article and that will enable the articulation of knowledge management and project management. The investigations, as a result of the review, reach the highest concentration in the administrative category, with problems centered on the administrative process: planning, organizing, directing and controlling; and financial and accounting aspects.
