Abstract
This article presents the theoretical and methodological perspective designed in the context of the research project entitled “Conflicts, opportunities and challenges of the Atrato River Guardians. A view from the municipality of the Quito river”, in order to understand the political mobilization processes of the Guardians of the Atrato river unleashed in an attempt to defend and explore the biocultural territories of the Atrato river basin, a perspective named Alternative Local Approaches to Conventional Development (ELAD).
