N2 - On the scientific literature, different studies analyzed the positive impact that the Project Management Offices (PMOs) have on the projects by using and exploratory approach; with a limited statistical fieldwork, mainly on a case of study organizations and distant from the reality of the projects conducted in Colombia. Therefore, it is needed to analyze the impact generated by the PMOs in the performance of the projects in the Colombian enterprise context. This investigation, demonstrated that the performance of the projects is positively impacted by the presence of the PMOs within the organizations that implement this type of initiatives. Firstly, a bibliometric analysis about the Project Management Offices was conducted on main international journals and related standards; secondly, an extensive fieldwork was undertaken, analyzing more than 500 organization that perform projects in Colombia; thirdly, a detailed statistical analysis of data was carried out, and finally, study results and future lines of research were established.
