Abstract
Neuroscience is the discipline that, supported by diverse areas of knowledge, scientifically and integrally studies the nervous system, from the molecular and cellular aspects, the most advanced studies on human behavior, the different conditions and diseases that affect it, as well as the possible therapeutic and rehabilitation approaches. The brain constitutes a great mystery for mankind to the point of considering it a black box, a sealed unit, very difficult to study. This book presents the history of different topics related to neuroscience, approaching each one from its first mentions until the end of the 20th century, leaving the new developments for those interested in contemporary aspects of this discipline. Some of the aspects studied include a brief history of the brain, nervous tissue, neurotransmitters, neurology, neurosurgery and neuropediatrics and some conditions involving the nervous system: epilepsy, migraine, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is complemented by two appendices, one on etymology and Neuroscience, and the other on the Nobel prizes awarded to researchers who have won them for their great contributions to the discipline.
