There is great heterogeneity in the literature regarding the methods used to perform evaluation and screening in patients with peripheral neuropathy, including different questionnaires (for example, The Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument), evaluation in the physical examination (for example, motor tests and evaluation sensory -pinprick sensation test, Semmes‐Weinstein monofilament test), as well as different paraclinical methods (genetic tests), anatomopathological and immunohistochemical and in vitro tests. Following the Cochrane methodology for systematic reviews of the literature, we will carry out an analysis and update of diagnostic and screening methods for the evaluation of peripheral neuropathy according to its etiology and current utility. Likewise, we will carry out an analysis of novel or potential methods that will be carried out in the future. With this, we will give greater clarity, level of evidence and relevance of the different methods. This systematic review will determine the most widely used screening methods in neuropathy, and will be classified according to their clinical relevance and usefulness.

Research Model: A systematic review of the literature will be carried out in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses declaration criteria and the current recommendations of the Cochrane Collaboration
