Challenges in Colombia regarding Human Rights and Business 2015 – 2025.

The project aims to identify the current state of regulation in Human Rights and Business in Colombia, through an analysis of international and national instruments on the matter.

The general objective of this project is to identify strengths and gaps in national instruments for the implementation of international Human Rights and Business instruments adopted by organizations such as the United Nations, the OECD and the ILO.

As specific objectives, this project aims to consult the current state of progress on Human Rights and Business that has occurred within the State and within companies. Analyze the general public policy documents adopted by the Government of Colombia on human rights and business, in particular the national action plans of 2015 and 2020. Analyze the sectoral public policy documents adopted by the Government of Colombia on rights humans and companies, with emphasis on those in the mining-energy sector.

Write academic products that reflect the progress and shortcomings of previous documents, from a perspective that takes into account global trends.

And finally
Provide technical assistance to the State of Colombia, when required, on the adoption of future regulations and policies regarding human rights and businesses.

This project has the following expected results:

Raising a baseline on companies and human rights in Colombia.

Presentation of analysis and technical opinions on drafts of public policy and/or regulations regarding human rights and companies of the Government of Colombia.

Publication of academic products on the inclusion (or lack of) gender aspects in human rights policies in the mining and energy sector.

Edition of academic products on the current state of the implementation of international Human Rights and Business instruments in Colombia and Latin America.
