Resumen
This case- control study aims to determine if there is a higher prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii IgG antibodies in Colombian patients with schizophrenia compared with ( versus ) a group of people without this diagnosis o (healthy controls). Studies in several countries have shown a strong association between toxoplasma antibodies and schizophrenia, which has raise several hypotheses and some new visions regarding the presence of the parasite in the pathophysiology of this illness. Our secondary objective is to analyze whether there is a relationship among the existing toxoplasma strains in our country and the presence of the disease. A descriptive observational will be completed in relation to genetic and social risk factors.
