OBJECTIVE

This research incubator aims to reflect on ethnographic strategies in the pandemic, in order to identify the effects, experiences and narratives of the global health emergency in the daily lives of people in various parts of Colombia. At the same time, it seeks to recognize the possible limitations and transformations in the relationship that is built between the researcher and the researched.

DESCRIPTION

This research incubator arises in the face of the methodological transformations and uncertainty that we as social researchers had to face in order to do field work as we have always known it. In view of this, we decided to experiment with the way in which the approach to individuals is established, in order to put into practice the adaptation of qualitative methodological instruments, specifically ethnography. We seek to recognize some effects on the experiences challenged by Covid-19 and the multiple transformations this has left in their daily lives. This has generated theoretical and methodological questions about the object of study of the social sciences and invites reflection that allows us to understand the implications of social contexts at different scales on the experience of individuals from various places in Colombia.

LINES OF RESEARCH

  1. Methodological
  2. Theoretical

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES

  1. Continue with the regional explorations started during the quarantine
  2. Make contacts with people in different parts of Colombia and interview them
  3. As far as possible, make field trips to some of the populations contacted
  4. Follow up with media and institutional sources on actions taken and effects observed in relation to the pandemic
