Resumen

La infección por el virus zika tuvo un gran impacto no sólo en las mujeres embarazadas y los recién nacidos, sino también en la salud pública, en las ideas populares sobre Aedes aegypti y en el respeto de los derechos sociales de las mujeres. El objetivo de este trabajo es identificar este impacto y los cambios históricos, sociales y de salud de la enfermedad y el legado del virus zika. Las intervenciones de investigadores de diferentes especialidades fomentan las condiciones para realizar investigaciones más exhaustivas sobre las futuras amenazas epidémicas en Brasil y América Latina. Este diálogo tuvo lugar tras el seminario "Aedes aegypti: emergencias sanitarias pasadas y futuras", organizado por la Casa de Oswaldo Cruz, en el que conversamos con algunos ponentes y otros destacados investigadores sobre la historia y los retos de Aedes aegypti y zika.
