Resumen

Critical theorist Herbert Marcuse proposed a discourse on scientific methodology and its related techniques, or otherwise known as postnormal science. Postnormal science is basically a manifestation of Marcuse's new modality of science. It is relevant today since it can be used to study 21st century environmental politics. In this context, postnormal science goes hand in hand with political reasoning, especially in the realm of the current environmental challenge. Nevertheless, the utilization of political theory to justify postnormal science methodologies is now quite widespread. However, it appears that postnormal science does not come to the political theory table empty-handed; perhaps the direction in which the scientific method is leading late industrial societies might be altered with good governance.
