Resumen

Objective: to evaluate the reproducibility of an instrument for measuring skin cancer risk factors. Methodology: some variables for measuring skin cancer risk factors were found in the literature and used as a starting point to conduct focus groups with patients and experts in order to obtain the questions for a data collection instrument. Subsequently, test-retest reproducibility was evaluated with 85 cases (skin cancer) and 85 controls for the selected items. Finally, the kappa, weighted kappa and Lin correlation coefficients were used for the analysis. Results: The most reliable variables were municipality of residence (0.86-0.98) and working outdoors (0.78-0.83). The least reliable variable was using sun protection gear (0.53-0.8). Conclusions: the evaluated variables have good reliability levels, which is one of the conditions that must be taken into account in order to identify risk factors for developing skin cancer among our population in a more valid way.
