¿Narcocultura? Trazos para un mapa de las dimensiones culturales y comunicativas del narcotráfico en Colombia

This paper critically reviews the conceptualizations about the relationship
between culture and drug trafficking, to analyze the explanatory scope
of the use of the ‘narcoculture’ category. Based on a theoretical review seeks to
outline some key points on the cultural and communicative dimensions of the
narco-trafficking, focusing on the Colombian case. It is argued that to overcome
the reductionism on Identity, it is necessary to insist more radically in the relational and historical character of culture and identification processes. In that
sense, it is concluded that the usefulness of the ‘narcoculture’ category is its
heuristic value to address the changes in the structures of feeling (R. Williams)
of specific societies affected by drug trafficking and the war waged against it,
as is the case of the Colombian experience in recent decades.
