Resumen

Objetivo: determinar los niveles de citoquinas en el humor acuoso (AH) de pacientes colombianos con toxoplasmosis ocular activa (TO) y correlacionarlos con sus características clínicas. Métodos: se analizaron 27 citoquinas / quimiocinas en 15 muestras de AH (nueve pacientes con diagnóstico de OT confirmado biológicamente y seis controles que se sometieron a cirugía de cataratas). Las correlaciones se evaluaron entre los niveles de citocinas / quimiocinas, el tipo de respuesta inflamatoria (Th1, Th2, Th17, Treg) y las características clínicas. Resultados: la respuesta predominante de Th2 se relacionó con características clínicas más graves. La presencia de VEGF e IL-5 se relacionó con un mayor número de recurrencias. Los factores de crecimiento (VEGF, FGF, PDGF-β) se relacionaron con un mayor número de lesiones. Los pacientes infectados por cepas tipo I / III tenían un patrón de citocinas intraoculares particular. Conclusiones: la respuesta Th2 se relacionó con características clínicas más severas en pacientes infectados por cepas tipo I / III. IL-5 y VEGF se asociaron con recurrencias.
