Abstract

This book addresses the fundamental aspects of digital transformation in organizations and, through them, in society in general. Specialists from various disciplinary fields and contexts, as well as leaders with experience in carrying out this type of initiative in organizations of various types and sizes, addressed the origins, foundations and implications of this important transformation.Digital transformation leads organizations to consider the implementation of multiple technological initiatives, but also to carry out various social, cultural, political, economic, ecological, and regulatory actions, in the configuration of a process of adaptation to new realities and, in many cases, a process that responds to the need to reconfigure, reinvent, and advance the traditional models of social organization, seeking to achieve new standards of welfare, development, and prosperity for humanity. This type of transformation involves the reconfiguration of the business model and, in fact, the emergence of new businesses, as well as the formulation of unprecedented ways of trading, communicating, and interacting in all spheres among various actors shaping society.Given that in Latin America there are not enough works that allow understanding the relevant aspects of digital transformation in the organizational setting—and society as a whole—this book aims to become a reference work for those interested in this topic in the current context.
