Abstract

Ocular toxoplasmosis: Do not swallow stories or raw meat! is a book that fills a gap in the process of social transfer of knowledge on the subject of toxoplasmosis, one of the most prevalent infections in the world population and with consequences on human health that seem to have a greater significance than we have known so far, when assessing its relationship with mental health. The neuroimmune-ophthalmology group at the Universidad del Rosario has crafted a dazzling work, due to the quality of information it offers, which is developed in a practical, well explained, and illustrated manner. Those who read it will find solid information based on scientific knowledge, presented in a clear language, that dismantles myths; many of these myths have originated in common sense, but science has managed to decipher and illuminate their true scope and meaning.
