Abstract
The set of organs that transform food from complex macromolecules into molecules that can be absorbed by the body and then excrete those substances that the body was unable to absorb is known as the digestive system. This system is fundamental for the body's homeostasis, since it allows the body to obtain the necessary nutrients for all metabolic processes.
The organs that make up this system act in a coordinated manner and form a tube that begins at the mouth and ends at the anus. Additionally, this tract has annexed glands that are in charge of secreting nutrients.
