Abstract
This is a clinical case report of a patient with a diagnosis of Stevens-Johnson syndrome induced by phenytoin, who was admitted to a tertiary level university hospital in the city of Bogota, Colombia. Thirteen days after the initiation of the above mentioned medication due to a diagnosis of focal convulsive syndrome, the patient consulted for the appearance of papular macular lesions on the head and trunk accompanied by oral and genital ulcers. The presentation and distribution of the lesions, the systemic involvement and the temporal association with phenytoin consumption, supported the diagnosis of Stevens-Johnson syndrome, which was confirmed by the Dermatology Department. The patient responded adequately to the treatment and was discharged 10 days after admission without complications.
