Fue en el Encuentro de la Red Latinoamericana de Clínicas Jurídicas realizado en Tucumán (Argentina) en el año 2006, donde se inició para la región una revisión cuidadosa y de gran valor sobre los aportes de las clínicas del Common Law en el debate sobre el rol de los docentes clínicos. En dicha actividad se contó con la participación de destacados profesores como Martín Bohmer de la Universidad de San Andrés (Argentina), Ellen Chapnik de la Universidad de Columbia (Estados Unidos) y Lusine Hovhannisian del Public Interest Law Initiative (Hungría).

A continuación se presenta el estudio de caso escogido para evaluar la práctica de la educación legal clínica, sus aportes y retos. Se seleccionó la Clínica Jurídi-ca «Grupo de Acciones Públicas» de la Universidad del Rosario (Bogotá, Colombia), por varias razones: i) fue la primera clínica que se creó en Colombia y ha desarrollado su trabajo pedagógico y social de forma ininterrumpida; ii) tiene 19 años de trabajo documentado en publicaciones y ponencias académi-cas a nivel nacional e internacional; iii) por la calidad de las autoras como supervisoras de la Clínica, se tiene acceso a los archivos, a los casos y a la base de datos de integrantes desde su fundación.

N2 - This article analyzes clinical legal education as a pedagogical model that in Latin America and especially in Colombia, gathers the contributions of the North American model, enriching them with work in defense of human rights. This proposal promotes the «learn to learn» scenarios, differs from classical law teaching and generates new standards of legal training in the 21st century. The methodology used shows how legal clinics impact the student’s training and the work of the teacher, in a joint work and a permanent reinvention of the teaching-learning process. The study counted on the participation of members and supervisors from different periods of the Legal Clinic “Public Actions Group” of the University of Rosario, examining the evolution of the pedagogical model, the impact and the representation that it has in the graduates.
