Abstract

According to reports issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), 198,234,951 accumulated positive cases of Covid-10 have been reported worldwide, representing a rate of 25,145.39 cases per million people living on the planet and 25,242,535 active cases, with the Americas continuing to register the highest rate of infection (39%). Mental health has generated great challenges in times of pandemic for the different sectors that perhaps had not prioritized the emotional and affective stability of the population, so it has become necessary to design and implement mental health care programs, particularly for people in vulnerable situations. The SARS CoV-2 public health emergency has generated great psychological consequences in the population: exposure to multiple stressors associated with the infection, fear of death, changes in lifestyles, affective losses, confinement, uncertainty about the reactivation of sectors and post-pandemic sequelae have been directly related to the experience of clinical symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Therefore, and in order to define joint and interdisciplinary management strategies, we pose the following question: Is there a relationship between the reactivity of inflammation markers (IL1-beta, IL-6, IL-10, IL-4 and tumor necrosis factor alpha) in the development of psychiatric symptoms in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in a high complexity institution in Bogota, Colombia?

An observational, descriptive, prospective study will be conducted in a cohort of 50 patients (non-probabilistic convenience sampling) hospitalized at the Hospital Universitario Mayor - Méderi during the study period with severe acute respiratory infection secondary to infection by SARSCoV- 2/COVID-19.
