Abstract
The aim of advertising is persuasion, politics pursues the exercise of official power and education seeks truth and the development of the capacities and virtues of the commu-nity. Political advertising is a means of communication that overlaps these dimensions. This raises a concern because they may promote conflicting goals and values. This article argues that political advertising is a communicative practice that has a pervasive impact on the epistemic environment of political decisions and for this reason it must honor some ethical standards to protect the flourishment of civic virtues. An axiological approach is used to discuss the ethical framework of political advertising.
