Abstract

To prevent dehydration during exercise, consuming fluids regularly is indispensable to assure physical and mental well-being in people; the studies regarding the topic centre on sportsmen, stopping of side the sedentary population. To determine changes in hematological and hydroelectrolitical variables in sedentary subjects to 2.600 m.u.s.l., before ingestion of two types of hydration, during ninety minutes of exercise in bicycle to 50 - 60 % VO2peak. Thirty healthy volunteers of both sexes took part, between 20 and 40 years distributed in three groups, to each of which there was assigned a type of hydration (not hydration, water or sports drink). It was measured hemoglobin, hematocrit, plasmatic volume changes, osmolarity and plasmatic sodium and potassium concentration. The subjects surrendered the exercise in bicycle, providing to them hydration like American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and taking blood samples earlier, during and after the test. The physical exercise with the raised characteristics does not produce sufficient organic stress to take dehydration states, which in spite of producing light descents in the corporal weight, don't affect electrolytic balance of the organism. The hydration with water generated light changes in the concentration of sodium which didn't happen when It hydrate with a sports drink. Static bicycle exercise surrendered by sedentary people during ninety minutes to an intensity of 50 - 60% VO2peak , is well tolerated with minimum reduce in body Weight, The protocol of hydration recommended by the ACSM is adapted to use in sedentary subjects
