Abstract

During the pandemic, many companies focused on survival, and to achieve this, they developed different types of innovation. However, it is unknown whether these innovations are temporary or permanent and the mechanisms with which they were financed. Due to this, a qualitative, transversal research method was implemented, based on the interviews conducted with a group of 22 Colombian companies; to characterize the innovations, a theoretical framework was built around the temporality of innovations, the types of innovations according to the OECD, and financing mechanisms in times of crisis. It was found that a large part of the innovations conducted will be maintained (e.g., implementation of digital marketing, digitization of processes and services) and the innovations that occurred temporarily have a strong contextual component (e.g., creation of products that respond to demands generated by the pandemic, implementation of biosafety protocols.).
