Abstract
During the great pandemic of plague occurred in medieval Europe, 1347-1351, called "The Black Death", were the Italians who, relying on the miasmatic theory, tried for the first time to implement a cutting-edge structure in Europe in health prevention, establishing measures that, in contrast to the Hippocratic private hygiene model, could be called public hygiene measures, since they went beyond individual methods and controls.
