Abstract

This text will help the health institution to organize itself and prepare the necessary information to undertake the long and tortuous path of cost/benefit ratio determination and accreditation. In addition, it can be very useful for students in undergraduate and graduate biomedical engineering programs who want to specialize in biomedical equipment technology management and clinical engineering. It can also be used as a reference guide by people who are directly linked to the health sector in maintenance departments, clinical engineering or hospital services. The model presented here has been applied in several hospitals in Latin America, partially or in its entirety, and its results have been published in more than 30 full papers in indexed journals and at international events.
