The purpose of this article is to present an analysis from a gender perspective of the institutional guidelines in force that govern the care of young women in conflict with the law deprived of their liberty; along the same lines, to analyze the materialization of the principles of these guidelines in the Specialized Care Centers. The method, based on the qualitative perspective, was the documentary analysis of the legal acquis that supports the intra-institutional actions, in which there is a generalization, even in the language, of the masculine over the feminine, as well as of the actions to be developed with young men over the necessary ones to be developed with women; that is, their needs and particularities are made invisible, being only differential those that reinforce the role of women as caregivers and reproducers of the species. As a result of the above, some aspects are raised for public policy regarding the importance of including in the institutional guidelines for care and intervention not only gender as a concept, but also as a perspective.
