Abstract

The purpose of this article is to set out in a general way the usefulness of teaching philosophy in the baccalaureate, explained - for the sake of convenience - in the contemporary language of "competence". The idea is defended that the teaching of philosophy presupposes a certain understanding of the nature of philosophical activity according to which teaching to philosophize, and not teaching to speak doctrinally or to be "critical of social reality" or the like, is essential not only for the learner, but also for philosophy itself.
