Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to analyze in detail each of the mechanisms that the Human Rights Commission established for the case of the disappeared of the Chilean dictatorship, namely: (i) the Ad Hoc Working Group to study the situation of human rights in Chile (1975-1979); (ii) the rapporteur on the impact of foreign aid and economic assistance on respect for human rights in Chile (1977); (iii) the United Nations Trust Fund for Chile (1978); (iv) the Special Rapporteur on the fate of missing persons or persons unaccounted for in Chile (1979); and (v) the Special Rapporteur on Chile (1979-1990).
