Abstract
The election of Gustavo Petro as President of the Republic of Colombia in 2022 was preceded by a period of intense popular mobilization, especially among young people. In this study, we show that the extension of this mobilization of youth at the polls is what made the difference that led the left to win the presidency in the country for the first time. To this end, we reconstituted the electoral behavior of the age groups in the last two presidential elections by cross-referencing the electoral data at the polling station level with the age composition of each ballot box of voters. This highlights a generational change in electoral behavior that was activated with the particular political situation of 2022.
