Abstract
On the one hand, journals face challenges to stay up-to-date and position themselves in a highly changing and competitive environment, which affects their relevance and citations; on the other hand, artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly a key technology in the publishing industry, due to its ability to process large volumes of data and optimize processes. To identify the relevance and potential of AI tools to improve scientific publication processes and identify emerging trends, this article presents research with a mixed approach, which integrates a systematic review of the literature and collects and analyzes data in scientific publications, particularly in the social sciences. The available AI platforms are reviewed, and their accuracy is evaluated through systematic reviews and comparative analysis. As a result, guidelines are proposed for their proper implementation in editorial processes.
