Abstract
E-government is an essential toolto build sustainable development strategies, as well as inclusion and participationin our democracies, because itallowsthe integration of different services, public entities and users,in orderto maximize cooperation, efficiency, effectiveness,and distribution of resources. The e-government public policy developed in Colombia since 2000 is a good example of implementation of strategies for short, medium,and long term that seek to transform the governance of the twenty-first century. The Colombian case is also an interesting studycaseto verify the opportunities and challenges that governments and public administrations face at the moment of implementingICT in public management.
