Abstract
Colombian medical education is not comprehensive; therefore, it does not meet the society needs. The society needs, in addition to the biological aspects of the health-disease process, an involvement of non-medical factors that influence health outcomes. The social determinants of health are quite important in terms of inequities, and positively or negatively influence population health. Nutrition is part of the dietary population health and is also considered an integral part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), in particular the zero-hunger challenge. This is an area that requires a global effort, but also needs to introduce fundamental changes in the way they are involved in the teaching and learning of medicine, through active learning methods and inter and intra-professional collaborative work, in order to produce well-being in individuals and in communities where medicine is practiced. Nutrition could be a good common thread for these learnings.
