Abstract
The functionalization of nanoparticles has been broached as a possible means to ensuring their dispersion in polymer nanocomposites. We seek to draw a dynamic distinction between composites with “bare” nanoparticles and those with polymer-grafted nanoparticles. For clarity, the former and latter systems are referred to simply as polymer nanocomposites (PNCs) and polymer-grafted nanocomposites (PGNCs), respectively. Further, we explore dynamics in self-suspended nanoparticle organic hybrid materials (NOHMs) which retain liquid-like character.
