Abstract
This research investigates how clinicians perceive and utilize evidence-based recommendations (EBRs) in their medical decision-making process. Conducted through 22 comprehensive interviews with 13 clinicians, the study utilized narrative qualitative research and thematic analysis to identify key themes. These themes include the nature and dissemination of EBRs, the barriers and facilitators within the healthcare system for EBR implementation, and the impact of EBRs on decisions involving both clinicians and patients/caregivers. The results highlight that while EBRs contribute to lifelong learning and patient education, their role in shared decision-making is complex and challenging. The study underscores the necessity of a comprehensive approach to involve patients and caregivers in decision-making processes, in line with EBR recommendations.
