Abstract
Traditional educational systems have turned students into passive entities that store information in a transitory way, without the capacity to process it and apply it to the solution of daily life situations. The generalized discussion among educational researchers raises the need to change the pedagogical strategies that have favored these situations, in order to allow an integral formation of the individual as a being capable of reasoning, creating, innovating and developing autonomously. Governmental and institutional demands and even the policies of globalization and the development of the human being based on the knowledge economy demand this change of strategies in the pedagogical system of teaching-learning; for although this is threatened by the natural resistance offered by the confrontation with an established culture, it must be given from the classroom in an immediate way. In response to this need, the Biochemistry Unit of the Institute of Basic Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine (Universidad del Rosario) proposes a non-traditional strategy in pursuit of change.
