Capítulo 4. Aspectos Éticos en Salud Ocupacional y Ambiental

Occupational Health Ethics should have an integral orientation, for the prevention and mitigation of risks related to responsible work, within an ethical and moral framework. This should be kept in mind by Occupational Health professionals, whose activities are oriented to the protection of workers, the environment and communities. The International Code of Ethics for Occupational Health Professionals involves this vision and emphasizes the independence of professionals so that they can act for the benefit of the different actors involved in work activities. To better understand the issues, the Chapter addresses ethical principles and moral issues in the field of Occupational Health, agency and conflicts of interest in Occupational Safety and Health, particular ethical issues, including occupational examinations, occupational medical records, responsibility to third parties, family and community, as well as related legal provisions. All with discussion of specific cases.
