Abstract
As global leaders on the implementation of BRT systems, countries in Latin America and Asia have more than 90 cities designing and implementing these systems, which constitute a clear opportunity to understand the dynamics in the production and transformation of urban space, especially since BRT is a mass transit system on the surface of cities, implying not only potential impacts on the built environment but also in the power relations between urban actors. Bogotá (Colombia) and Ahmedabad (India) are two pioneer cities implementing BRT systems in their respective countries and thus they represent two eminent cases in terms of maturity and local dynamics in the production and transformation of urban space, as part of the general trend of the implementation of this type of mass transit systems.
