Abstract

This text reviews the anatomical and biomechanical aspects of the knee complex, and analyzes the role of this joint in human body movement. Similarly, it highlights the importance of morphological concepts as a basis for understanding the kinematics and kinetics of the human body movement, and provides tools that help to understand and analyze the biomechanical behavior of this joint, for its application in different contexts. The work is divided into two chapters. The first one examines the contractile and non-contractile structures that make up the knee complex, as well as its joint classification according to the function it performs. In addition, the chapter correlates the movements of this joint complex with the forces that produce it, so that students are able to comprehensively recognize the importance of this articulation in the production of human body movement. The second chapter is composed of activities to be developed by readers, in order to strengthen their understanding of this joint complex through problem solving in English and, in this way, to familiarize them with the proper terminology of the knee complex in this language.
