Las boletas electorales

In order to guarantee democracy, electoral law must be applied as a critical body of knowledge that includes institutional, organisational and administrative aspects. It is therefore necessary to have a systematic and comparative study of electoral law in Latin America that analyses all stages of the process: from the citizen's right to vote and be voted for, to the jurisdictional resolution of disputes based on a comparative approach of the institutional, political and social aspects in which Latin American electoral law has developed.
This work is the result of the cooperation of a large number of Latin American and European researchers from different disciplines, especially political science and public law. Each analysis highlights progress in legislation and points out limits in implementation within the socio-political context, especially the political culture of the region. The financing of political parties and electoral campaigns, candidates' access to the media, women's participation in politics and voting from abroad are some of the issues analysed in this book.
