Abstract

Background. This article explores research capacity in the disability knowledge field in some geographical regions in Colombia and is part of a major research project named “Colombian Research Agenda on Disability”. Objective. To contribute to the identification of actors researching on disability at different cities and, in this way, to make an approach of research capacities on disability in the country. Materials and Methods. Descriptive study that employs a survey applied to interested or involved people with research on disability from seven cities in Colombia. Results. 88 actors were identified. 45 of them are research groups, 28 are organizations of or for people with disabilities, and 15 are government agencies. A concentration of research capacities in the main cities, mainly in Bogotá, is noted. Conclusion. It’s important to explore the dynamics of networks and partnerships that have common interests as the basis for its functionality.
