Ansiedad, depresión y calidad de vida en personas adultas con VIH/SIDA y deterioro cognitivo leve.

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) have had throughout the years an epidemiological behavior that shows a rising trend, so that has come to be considered a public health problem worldwide. However, antiretroviral treatments have allowed patients with HIV infection have a higher survival rate; but linked to this, there have been side effects such as memory problems and cognitive functioning of these patients. It has also been found that people with HIV/AIDS have some changes in their affected area, and generally sees affected their quality of life.
This is a descriptive exploratory study that had intended to describe the anxiety, depression and perceived quality of life in 35 patients with HIV/AIDS and mild cognitive impairment, selected by convenience. Three questionnaires were used; BDI- II to assess depressive symptoms, BAI to assess anxiety symptoms and MOS- SF30 to assess quality of life. In addition, a semi-structured interview was conducted to further analyze these three variables. Within the results was evident that all patients have some level of anxiety and depression, they assess their quality of life at a midpoint; neither optimal nor low. These and other results are in discussion.
