Abstract
The analysis of X chromosome markers has been widely used in the area of clinical genetics, particularly for the molecular analysis of X-linked diseases. Recently, many short tandem repeats (Short Tandem Repeats, STR) on this chromosome have been recognized for their importance in forensic and paternity analysis. Gonosomal markers are especially efficient in solving difficult cases, since the probabilities of average exclusion are greater than with autosomal STR markers.
