Abstract

The phenomenon of institutional state health organization in Central American countries was not so much about maritime and port health as in most Latin American countries, but about the economy of export of coffee, bananas and a little sugar. Here is a preliminary comparative analysis of the Central American case, taking as a reference point the role played by the Rockefeller Foundation in this process. This foundation was created for research and public health control, which from a new concept transformed health services in these countries.
