Description
The WomanStats project comprises the most representative statistical database on the security situation of women worldwide. The WomanStats project began in 2001 at Brigham Young University (USA), since when it has established itself as a useful source of qualitative and quantitative information to support research and analysis related to women's security around the world. The general purpose of the project is to identify links between the security and behavior of States and the situation of women's insecurity at the domestic level. From there, it seeks to generate new knowledge through the development of research to describe the security situation of women, mainly through empirical analysis, evaluation activities, comparisons, case studies, among others. The project currently has 19 principal investigators, 3 affiliated investigators and 5 associate investigators, as well as a group of research assistants.
Taking into account the above, the main purpose of this application for a seed capital fund is to establish a WomanStats project unit at Universidad del Rosario. This initiative has the endorsement of the principal investigator of the project and the commitment of the undersigned, career professor of the Faculty and principal investigator and representative of the WomanStats project for Latin America. The development of this unit at Universidad del Rosario requires the establishment of a work team between the undersigned researcher and a group of students who will be trained to support data collection, coding and analysis activities. This is an opportunity to mainstream and strengthen research with a gender perspective mainly in the areas of Political Science and International Relations. The expected products will serve as inputs for the design and implementation of public policies.
