Transitions and transformations in Colombian rurality: Technological and social changes towards unconventional forms of food production. Case study in Bogotá and Cundinamarca

Project: Research Project

Project Details

Description

The forms and technologies of food production in the world are currently a cause of great concern in public and
private, especially from an institutionalized dimension that speaks of food security as a global objective. To the undeniable problem of solving hunger, undernutrition and malnutrition in the world, is added the impact that the production model has meant for rural areas, with special attention to environmental concerns. Thus, questions about conventional forms of production appear on the public stage given their negative economic and social effects, with criticism emerging from organizations.
social criticisms, supported by some academics, criticisms that materialize in alternative forms of production that have been called
transitions.

The present project seeks to analyze these transitions, trying to approximate a conceptualization of Transitions (sociotechnical, sustainable, rural impact) in light of the emerging analytical framework for this phenomenon. To do this, it is supported by the analysis of the organizational, social and political mechanisms, which have initiated a process of transformation and transition towards diverse forms of production and association with a view to participating in food markets carried out by the associated producers in the SALSA Committee in the department. from Cundinamarca.

It is expected that through the use of mixed methods, sufficient information will be collected to describe the social and political processes that the associated producers have gone through in order to determine the degree of incidence and survival that these processes have, both in political and social terms. .
