Description

Determine the allelic and genotypic frequencies of polymorphisms in the nuclear genes TP53, CYP1B1, CYP1A1, GSTT1, and GSTP1, together with genes involved in mitochondrial genome maintenance and DNA repair (GMX and XRCC1), and assess the mitochondrial genome instability index (mtGI) in breast cancer patients from Colombia and Argentina through a multicenter case-control study. Furthermore, evaluate the association of these genetic markers with breast cancer susceptibility, development, and progression to identify genetic risk factors and potential biomarkers for disease predisposition and prognosis. Common genetic polymorphisms may influence cancer susceptibility by affecting DNA repair, carcinogen metabolism, and cell-cycle regulation.
