Description

The study of decision-making in children is important because of the repercussions that their early decisions have later.

We defined three studies of interest to the students of the hotbed, which push the frontier of knowledge, and investigate relevant problems for the country.

1. What is the role of parents' expectations in their children's decisions to compete and their performance?

Gender differences in preferences for competitive environments tend to favor men, and experiments with boys and girls have allowed us to better understand when these gaps begin to appear.

We want to shed light on the relationship between parents' expectations and the choice of a payment scheme without competition or with competition.

2. What are gender stereotypes like in boys and girls from different areas of the country?

It is important to understand whether the gender gaps and stereotypes that are reproduced in adolescents and adults have been formed since childhood as a form of cultural transmission, since many stereotypes are instilled at an early age.

We want to measure these gender stereotypes in participants between 6 and 11 years old in Colombian cities that present variation in social gender norms.
