Project Details

Description

The pandemic to which the world has been exposed during the years 2020 and 2021 due to the sudden appearance of SARS COV-2 and the measures
health measures adopted by countries to mitigate the spread of the disease have generated a great impact on lifestyles
of the world population, with special impact on the child population in terms of mental health and increased sedentary behavior.

This research proposal has a multidimensional and interdisciplinary approach whose objective is to determine the effects of
health measures adopted to contain COVID-19 on sedentary behavior, emotional and attentional function of children and
school-age girls from the city of Bogotá. D.C.

In this sense, a study with a mixed approach (Qualitative-quantitative) is proposed in three phases:

1) the evaluation of the effects of the containment measures of the SARS-COV 2 virus on school-going boys and girls that include social isolation, confinement and educational alternation, 2) the characterization of sedentary behavior, emotional and attentional function of children, and 3) the implementation of a comprehensive intervention program that is based on Physical Activity (PA) and Psychopedagogy (PsP) in virtual mode and/or educational alternation in schoolchildren aged 8 to 10 years.

Commitments / Obligations

- This research proposes indicators of new knowledge regarding the description of the effects of health measures to contain the SARS COV 2 virus on Sedentary Behavior, Emotional and Attentional Function in schoolchildren, and from this, the
design and implementation of a comprehensive intervention strategy that is based on PA and Psychopedagogy in this population, which mitigates the
effects of health measures.

- It is expected that these results form the baseline for new work in the area, which will allow more schoolchildren to intervene at the level district and departmental.

Therefore, one of the expected results of this project is based on the submission of an article in an indexed international journal and participation in a scientific event to publicize the findings of the different phases of the research.
