Project Details

Description

The disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has resulted in 234,073 confirmed cases worldwide and 9,840 deaths just ten days after the WHO declared it a pandemic. The already inevitable establishment of social isolation and quarantine measures will pose a gigantic challenge for the mental health of the population in Colombia, a nation in full demographic change exposed to political-economic tensions, internal armed conflict and inequality. A study is proposed to determine the prevalence of mental health problems (depression, anxiety, consumption and withdrawal of psychoactive substances, and suicidal ideation) in the Colombian population exposed to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keywords

To estimate the prevalence of mental health problems, such as: depressive symptoms, anxious symptoms, suicidal ideation, and substance use and withdrawal, in the Colombian population exposed to the COVID-19 pandemic.
