Prevalence of ocular manifestations associated with antibody positivity in patients with autoimmune diseases in Bogotá, Colombia - 2020.

Project: Research Project

Project Details

Description

Autoimmune diseases have been described among 2 to 5% of the world population.

These have the capacity to affect any structure of the human body, with the eye being one of the most affected organs.

Different characteristic manifestations of these diseases have been described, where uveitis, scleritis and dry eye stand out as the main ones.

The relationship of these diseases with antibodies has been well described, but we have found that there are very few studies that relate and describe the prevalence of antibodies and ocular manifestations in autoimmune diseases.

This is why we consider it relevant to carry out a study of these characteristics, since our main objective is to estimate the prevalence of ocular manifestations associated with antibody positivity in patients with autoimmune diseases in a Colombian population.
