Layman's description

The problem of the configuration of identity, at an individual or political level, goes beyond uncritically assuming the need to defend the claims of the victims of historical injustices or the need to collect the inheritance in order to preserve it from its eventual extinction in the process of globalization. Cultural identity is the instrument of conceptual approach with which the attentive observer or the theoretician can give an account of the underlying reasons for the political decisions of the actors, but at the same time, from the perspective of the actors themselves, it constitutes a functional resource of representation of their spaces of significance that makes such actions possible. The effort to conceptualize - if not metaphorize - cultural identity and its political performance oscillates between the explanatory desires of the social sciences and the pragmatic needs of political and social actors; needs that deserve a broader understanding from the hermeneutics and philosophical anthropology.
